Definition number 2 makes me sad. Sad because it’s not just a connotation limited to the dictionary. Sad because it’s not just a notion limited to the vanilla world. I’ve detected this attitude among certain Masters, especially in Old Guard Leather, that the best slaves, the “true” slaves are quiet, straightforward. Being outspoken or practicing autonomy is considered a detriment, indicates the person is, in fact, not a real slave. Some Masters prefer to micromanage, dictate every aspect of their slave’s life – choosing every outfit worn, every meal consumed.
Skyspook does not do this. With his professional commitments, he simply doesn’t have the time.
Not only that, but I’m working on a book and about to return to academia for some highfalutin book learning. The plan, HIS plan for ME, entails my earning a doctorate – the cornerstone of such programs being the demonstration of original conclusions, pioneering research.
If that’s not a textbook marriage of originality, constructive interpretation, and development, then I don’t know what is.
