Despite having mixed feelings about the movie when I saw it many years ago, feeling it was overall a bit uneven for my tastes, being alternately bored and entertained, irritated and amused, that one quote stuck with me as hopelessly romantic and touching in a dorky offbeat kind of way.
So when Skyspook and I were looking at some clothes together the other day, and he casually remarked, “You’re totally thin enough to get away with horizontal stripes,” I flushed from head to toe, beamed for hours, and every now and then, the memory floats back to randomly, like a gift I get to open over and over again.
It’s amazing the things that really hit home, I suppose.
