“Page!” the stranger reads off my name tag. “Like Bettie Page?”

I shake my head, laugh. “No. Like my name.”

“Bettie Page!” he exclaims. His date giggles and beams. She seems to think he’s being charming.

“No,” I repeat, more firmly. I don’t have bangs. She was a fetish model, not a proper kinkster, and became a born-again Christian. Okay, she was hot in her younger days, and I don’t mind physical comparisons, but I’m not emulating her. The story behind “Page” as a nickname is long and dates back over a decade ago to my first semester of college and has nothing to do with the model.

“See ya later, Bettie,” he calls, waving to me as he steps out of the kink event and into the cold.
